Two women dead after being swept off rocks at Kurnell in Sydney


Two women have died after being swept off cliffs at Curnell, in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire.

Three women were pulled into the water near Yena Rd in Kurnell about 4.30pm on Monday. One managed to climb to safety.

“One woman was able to get out of the water and onto the rocks before being assisted by people,” police said.

The bodies of two other women were recovered from the water after being located by a police helicopter.

Paramedics and a helicopter doctor tried to revive them, but they died at the scene.

NSW Police said the women had not yet been formally identified.

“Police have established the crime scene and have launched an investigation into the incident, but no suspicious circumstances have been identified at this time,” police said.

A medical examiner’s report will be prepared.
