On Sunday morning, his body was found on rocky terrain just meters from a marina and beach bar ending in a four-day searchwhich includes planes, drones and tracking dogs.

The medical examiner will determine Moseley’s cause of death, with a finding expected in the next few weeks.

But on Monday, Britain’s Daily Mail journalist Nick Pisa, who reports from Simi, appeared on Sunrise and said it was believed he may have suffered a heart attack.

“(His death) unfortunately seems to be a classic case of some sort of medical episode,” Pisa said when asked by Nat Barr and Matt Shervington.

“We’re hearing tonight from the coroner at the inquest, he had some kind of medical episode. Some kind of heart attack or maybe the heat affected him.

“The temperature was approaching 40C this afternoon.

“There is no suggestion of foul play. They turned that off completely.

According to Pisa, Moseley’s walk should have taken about an hour and he may have gotten lost.

Pisa said he was found while the mayor of Symi, Eleftherios Papakaloudoukas, was giving an interview before getting back on a boat to Pedi.

The mayor’s attention was drawn to something hidden along the perimeter fence and a waiter went to check.

“They alerted the beach club and a waiter was sent to the scene and I was there when the waiter went there.

“You could tell by the look on his face that it was Dr. Moseley’s body because of the look of horror on his face.”

IN statement issued on her behalf, Moseley’s wife, Dr. Clare Baileyconfirmed that her husband took the wrong route on a hike and collapsed shortly before reaching the marina in a location where his body “could not easily be seen.”

“It is devastating to lose Michael, my wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant husband. We had an incredibly happy life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy together,” she said.

“We take solace in the fact that he almost made it.

“Michael was an adventurous guy, that’s part of what made him so special.”

Dr Bailey said the family had been “enormously comforted by the outpouring of love”, adding: “It’s clear that Michael meant an enormous amount to so many of you.”

“We are so grateful to the extraordinary people of Simi who worked tirelessly to help find him. Some of these people on the island who had never even heard of Michael were working from dawn to dusk, unasked,” she said.

“I feel so blessed to have our children and my amazing friends. Most of all, I feel so lucky to have had this life with Michael.
